In an interview on Sunrise, the media personality criticised the Duchess of Sussex for her treatment of friends, her ex-husband and even her own family.
It comes as the Queen made an historic announcement that Meghan and Prince Harry would step back as senior royals and split their time between Canada and the UK.
Speaking about Meghan’s history of ‘ghosting and ditching’ those close to her, the presenter said he came to the conclusion she was a ‘ruthless’ status seeker.
‘It really cemented in me a feeling that Meghan Markle is not quite what she seems,’ he told the show on Tuesday morning.
‘That she’s actually somebody who I think is a pretty ruthless social climber who has spent her life using people, and moving on and ditching them.
‘And it’s an unpleasant trait.’
Morgan, who has been critical of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s decision to step down from the royal family, said the public had initially warmed to the actress.
But stories that emerged about her past behaviour soon clouded public opinion.
‘Through the engagement and the wedding she got universal praise – including from me,’ he said.
‘I was like, ‘whatever’s happened with my friendship with her, I think she’ll be good news for the royal family’.
‘But then around the time of the wedding, you may remember, all the stuff around her dad – who she disowned – and her family, none of whom came to the wedding.
‘Then all these stories about what she did to her ex-husband, that she effectively fired him by sending him through the mail his rings.
‘And then loads of other people said ‘she ghosted me, she dumped me, she ditched me’.
On Monday in the UK, the Queen made clear her deep disappointment at the couple’s decision to quit their Royal duties and says there will be ‘a transition period’.
This will allow time to hammer out the final settlement between the family and the Duke and Duchess.
The unprecedented statement came after a two-hour summit at Sandringham between the Queen and Princes Charles, William and Harry.
‘But what makes it more serious now, is that having basically got rid of her own family, she now appears to be trying to get rid of Harry from his family and I think that is a dangerous moment for the royal family and for the monarchy,’ he said.
‘There’s a difference in the way the criticism of the two of them is treated.
‘My issue with Harry is that he’s so weak over all this.
‘I quite predicted and understand why Meghan Markle finds royal duties stifling and boring and wants to be a global Hollywood superstar.
‘But Harry was born into this and he should know better than most people that in return of all the servants and palaces and luxury life, that actually you have to perform what’s called duty.’
‘That is what the royal family do, that’s why they exist. They perform public duty.
‘And it seems to me that what these two now want, is they want their cake and all the royal trimmings, but they don’t want to work for it in the way all the other royals do.’
‘I’m afraid, you can’t say I didn’t warn you. I’ve always believed in the phrase – ‘if someone shows you who they are, then believe them’,’ Morgan went on.
After spending Monday afternoon bunkered down in crunch talks with the Queen, Princes Charles, William and Harry left the Norfolk estate in separate cars.
‘My family and I are entirely supportive of Harry and Meghan’s desire to create a new life as a young family,’ a statement from the Queen later said.
‘Although we would have preferred them to remain full-time working members of the Royal Family, we respect and understand their wish to live a more independent life as a family while remaining a valued part of my family.
‘Harry and Meghan have made clear that they do not want to be reliant on public funds in their new lives.
‘It has therefore been agreed that there will be a period of transition in which the Sussexes will spend time in Canada and the UK.
‘These are complex matters for my family to resolve, and there is some more work to be done, but I have asked for final decisions to be reached in the coming days.’
The Queen, who is desperate to chart a way out of the crisis raging through the Family ranks, has ordered courtiers to double down efforts to develops blueprint for the Sussexes’ future, to be completed within days. –THE MALAYA POST
