A beloved Australian teenager has died in tragic circumstances, prompting an outpouring of grief from friends, family and her music idol Billie Eilish.
Skylar Davies, from the New South Wales south coast, suddenly passed away on Boxing Day.
The 19-year-old loved American singer-songwriter Eilish and spoke of her joy at meeting the Ocean Eyes hitmaker earlier this year.
The grief-stricken musician posted a string of emotional messages on her Instagram after learning of ‘angel’ Miss Davies’ death.
‘Rest easy beautiful girl,’ the singer wrote, alongside pictures of the pair together in April.
‘Sending every ounce of love I have to Skylar’s family and friends. My heart is shattered,’ she added.
The cause of Miss Davies’ death is not known, but she is not believed to have been physically ill and her parents spoke of their shock.
The teenager’s father, Rob, said there were ‘no words to express our grief at this time’.
‘Skylar meant everything and more to us and we are deeply heartbroken,’ Mr Davies said.
‘She was an amazing daughter, sister and best friend. She was the love of my life, my everything my universe.’
Mr Davies said his daughter was a ‘genuine, kind, caring, beautiful creative individual’, adding that he ‘was so proud to call her my daughter’.
‘I really can’t believe she is gone. My heart breaks more as the reality of it all sinks in,’ he added.
Miss Davies’ Instagram posts show lust for life, with photos showing the glamorous teenager making the most of her time in Sydney after moving to the city for university.
The highlight of her year appeared to be meeting Eilish at her gig at Hordern pavilion in Sydney on April 30.
‘Last night I met the love of my life & I am forever grateful,’ Miss Davies wrote, accompanying her message with a heart emoji.
The most recent picture of her, showing her meeting Father Christmas with her younger brother, was posted by her heartbroken mother Leigh.
Mrs Davies said she was suffering ‘excruciating’ pain following her daughter’s death, which came as a horrendous shock.
