Michael Schumacher’s wife delivered a rare message of hope ahead of the sixth anniversary of the F1 icon’s accident.

The seven-time world champion has not been seen since he suffered a near-fatal brain injury when he hit his head on a rock while skiing.

His condition has been shrouded in secrecy ever since the accident in the French Alps on 28 December 2013.

But as fans prepare to launch a ‘KeepFightingMichael’ social media page next week, his devoted wife Corinna released a statement.

She reportedly told fans: “Big things start with small steps. Many small particles can form a huge mosaic.

“Together you are stronger, and that is exactly how combined forces of the KeepFighting movement make it easier to encourage others.”

Reiner Ferling, chairman of the fan club, said he is still remains “full of hope” he will see Schumacher out in public again.

He said: “Unfortunately, the time has come again, the sixth anniversary of Michael’s accident is coming around.

“Six years full of hope that Michael will one day go out in public again.”

Mr Ferling stated Schumacher is in “good hands” and paid tribute to his “strong” family.

It comes after Corinna was accused of hiding Schumacher from the world – and disguising the truth about his condition.

But Corinna claims she is simply paying back her husband for 24 happy years of marriage by fulfilling his wish for privacy.

She told She’s Mercedes magazine: “He is in the best of hands right now and we are doing everything we can to help him.

“Try to understand that we follow Michael’s desire to keep his health a secret.”

The racing ace is cared for by a team of ten experts at a specially converted medical facility at his £50million mansion on the shore of Lake Geneva, Switzerland.

Pending his recovery, Corinna has taken over running the half-a-billion-pound Schumacher empire — still growing thanks to sponsors including Mercedes, which never deserted him.

Last year she used £27million of their wealth to buy a holiday home in Andratx, Majorca, from the president of Real Madrid, Florentino Perez.

It is thought that it is where she, Michael, Gina-Marie and Mick celebrated Michael’s 50th in January. – The Sun
